We probed the function of particular types of neurons in complex behavioral paradigms using long lasting inactivation of neurotransmission. Here we report on the functions of soma and dendrite inhibiting interneurons in prefrontal cortex and dentate gyrus.
Prof. Wulff studied Medicine and Molecular Biology at the University of Hamburg. In 2001 he received his M.D. from the same university. In the following years he has practiced as medical doctor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Heidelberg. At the same time he has been conducting research as postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Clinical Neurobiology in Heidelberg. From 2006 to 2012 he gained extensive teaching and research experience as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Aberdeen, UK. Since 2012 he is Professor and Director at the Institute of Physiology, University of Kiel.
