Abstract
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. On the molecular level it is characterized by aggregation of beta amyloid. Amyloid aggregation is already present up to 20 years before dementia onset and is also common in subjects with other types of dementia.In my lecture I will discuss the epidemiology and cognitive and imaging correlates of amyloid pathology as measured in CSF or on PET scans in non-demented (including monozygotic twins) and demented subjects.

Visser received his MD from University of Utrecht and his PhD from University of Masstricht. From 2000 and 2006 he completed the postdoctoral training program in Epidemilogy with the Dutch Soceity for Medical Biological Research. Since 2016 he is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neuropsychology at the Maastricht University Medical Centre. His research interests lie in the early PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
